HOE

  • Develop professional vocabulary

  •  Develop communication and leadership skills.

  • Learn the career ladders in the health fields

  • Learn legal and ethical considerations

  • Learn techniques for washing hands

  • Learn to administer CPR and first aid

  • Learn how to maintain a clean environment

  • Learn to use computers in relation to health careers

  • Learn to measure vital signs

  • Learn the structure and function of body systems

  • Develop job preparedness skills.

Medical Assisting:

  • Use computer software to simulating today�s medical facility.

  • Work in simulated patient care situations of increasing complexity.

  • Use computers to learn to record medical data, patient histories, learn about the human body, etc

  • Students conduct research, and make oral and written presentations.

  • Students complete CPR and first aid and safety training programs.

Internship: 

  • Work in Lincoln Hospital in clerical capacity part-time for internship credits.

  • Work in Lincoln Hospital as entry-level medical assistant in various departments part-time for credit.

  • Maintain journal and log of hours.

  • Learn to work as a member of a team.

  • Learn to utilize communication skills in the workplace.

  • Students will prepare portfolio, papers, and final project.

Program Outcomes as Measured By:

At least 85% of students will successfully complete the course sequence as measured by teacher evaluation of students� clinical skills progress.  At least 85% of students will receive satisfactory ratings of their performance in a clinical setting as evaluated by the teacher. 

Students overall attendance will increase by 5%.  Students who experience internships or job shadowing will prepare and submit a high quality portfolio and journal project.  Students will receive certificates for successful completion of program.
