I've been a social worker at Schomburg Satellite Academy for the past three years. This has been a time of tremendous professional growth for me due to my involvement in diversified duties and the continued support that I receive from the entire staff. In addition to crisis intervention, group, and family counseling, I train students to become peer mediators. Mediation is an intergral part of our community. I also facillitate monthly meetings with the teachers where we assess the needs of advisory group as well as exploring new ways and sharing ideas to enhance our community. The team work we build and plan for a better tomorrow. I choose to work for the Alternative schools' setting becuase I strongly believe that the population we serve has great potential to be highly successful.
