The New York City Vocational Training Center (NYCVTC) started its journey in 1982 as a job readiness-training program for students who had not graduated from high school. At that time, the primary objective of the program was to provide students with job readiness skills through job training experiences in the real world of work. Since then, the NYCVTC has expanded its offerings to include a comprehensive academic program within the job-training milieu of our multi-sited collaborations with business and industry. We offer the following educational options to students seeking to fulfill their high school diploma requirements:

  • Through our Diploma Completion Program, students may complete their high school diploma requirements, including coursework completion and test-taking preparation.
  • Through our state-approved General Education Equivalency Program (GED), we prepare students to pass this exam.

Students who do not qualify for either one of the above tracks are provided with basic academic skills training in reading, writing and math while also receiving on-the-job training experiences needed to enter the world of work. We bridge the gap between school-based and work-based learning, post-secondary education and careers. Whether you are a parent, a student, or a guidance counselor in search for opportunities for your students, give us a call or send us an email for further information. We'll be happy to assist you in your needs.
