AIDS IN AFRICA PROJECT

TEEN TALK RADIO...On The Move did a radio show with the students from Public School Repertory Company HS in Manhattan on 'AIDS In South Africa' on May 3rd, 2001. Our invited guests were Danny Schechter from Global Vision (www.mediachannel.org.), Dr. Voyer from 'Acres of Love' orphanage in South Africa and Mark Milano, an activist with Act Up NY. Through this show we were contacted by Grace Ngumi, a teacher and member of the F.X.B. Foundation (www.fxb.org/). We hope to send Grace several AIDS education tapes to be distributed to high schools in rural South Africa. These tapes should be low-tech VHS produced by students for students...KIDS-TO-KIDS. The productions can be a mixture of skits, demonstrations, humor, culture-sharing... the goal being to create a bond with a rural South African high school. So far we have three schools working on the project for completion in Sept. 2002.

1) PUBLIC SCHOOL REPERTORY COMPANY HS (NYC)

2)WEST SIDE HS (NYC)

3) PROJECT BLEND HS (BRONX)
