Every Semester, the Full Time Internship Program at Teen Talk is responsible for team-production of Teen Talk Live- our hour long, live, call-in radio series. Like the documentaries, the topics of Teen Talk Live are "real and hard-hitting". Here we are in the studios of WNYE, wrapping up a typical Thursday evening at Teen Talk Live. Our topics this year included:

1. WHO WE ARE- a basic introduction of this year's interns and the programs slated to be produced.

2.CHALLENGE OF AN ILLNESS- with guests from the famed Gilda's Club, Teen Talk examined the impact of Cancer on the lives of teens and younger kids whose parents are dealing with cancer.

3.PARENTLESS PARENTS [BASE GRANT PROJECT - WSHS]-interviews with teen mothers and teen fathers who do not have both parent role models in their lives...if you haven't had your parents there for you, how do you learn to be a parent?

4.LIVING WITH AIDS [BASE GRANT PROJECT - WSHS]- a look at HIV positive life from the perspective of being an adult, as well as being an HIV positive teen.

5.THE CHALLENGE OF GAY/LESBIAN YOUTH [BASE GRANT PROJECT - WSHS] - a look at the struggles and issues that gay teens have to deal with during their high school years.

6.HIP HOP OLD AND NEW- from new school to old, a look at trends and changes in the world of hip hop and rap music.

7.POLICE BRUTALITY- CAN'T WE JUST GET ALONG? a look at how both cops and kids view police brutality and the relationships between NYPD and today's youth.

8.TEEN TALK HOLIDAY- a Christmas/Channukah/Kwansaa/Three Kings/New Year's celebration!

In addition to our live shows, Teen Talk interns also produce a documentary radio series. This year, our documentary offerings include:

SURVIVOR- A LOOK AT THE HUMAN SPIRIT...SURVIVOR PART 1 - includes interviews on surviving high school, surviving incarceration, surviving rape, and surviving the holocaust. SURVIVOR PART 2- includes surviving cancer, surviving AIDS, and surviving paralysis- the Steven McDonald story.

THE HATERS- a look at why teens "hate on each other"- including hate and fashion, hate and race, hate and teen mothering, and hate in jail.

RAP CITY...IS HIP HOP CULTURE A POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE EFFECT ON YOUTH. Includes interviews with students from Public School Repertory Company, Vibe Magazine, Angelo Ellerby- CEO of XXPOSURE, views of students incarcerated on Rikers Island from Island Academy, and Jinn- up and coming rapper from RUFF RYDERS.

Our topics this year included:

1-"WHO WE ARE"- our annual first of the year program announcing the upcoming student productions, the interns, and a few words about the programs they'll be bringing to the table.

2-"EYEWITNESS"- interviews with Tom Conlin- financial advisor who worked at Tower Two of the WTC, along with students from the High School of Economics and Finance who had to run for their lives to get away from the blast on 9/11.

3-"COPING"- interviews with Red Cross, FEMA, Social Worker Linda Salazaar from West Side High School and Joe Haslip- community outreach assistant to Senator David Patterson on how to cope with 9/11.

4-"INSIDE THE INDUSTRY"- a look at the inner world of making it in the music biz, with singer Horace Brown from Xxposure, and rapper DJ Boogie from Da Streetz Magazine.

5-"HOMOPHOBIA"- interviews with Gay and Lesbian students from the NYC Lesbian Gay Community Center.

6-"TEENS AND DEPRESSION"- A look at how to cope with members of the NYC Youthline (teen hotline).

7-"FOSTER CARE"- the real story of life inside a group home by those who've been there.

8."TEEN PREGNANCY"- panel of teen moms from Offsite Educational Services at Jobs for Youth, along with teen dads from the Louise Wise Services on the juggle of teen parenting Stay tuned for our spring semester show lists!
