1) assignment posting
in concord we are using a intranet webserver for posting assignments all
you nead is apache installed on your linux box and each teacher neads to
have a public_html directory in their home directory this is simple
because almost every distrobution of liinux is setup to do this by default
2) group accounts
as far as group accounts go yes you can do group accounts to manage
this you can even go a sep further and use macros in samba and netatalk
to make them more transparent however as of this time i have not writen
a schema or utillities for doing so i do plan to for version 0.0.3 or
version 0.0.4 of the account manager i have not dicided which yet if you
would like to help me plan out a schema for doing this I would could use
the help pleese email me at [email protected] to help me with
the planing
3) printers
first of all cups is new the first stable release is only 2 years
old. if you are using cups as your printing system the driver is a PPD
file.
PDQ is an old lexmark driver format dont use it, it wont work. there
are a few things you should know the new version of the lexmark drivers
for mac and windows use PPD files as a mater of fact you can download
the latest PPD from lexmarks site here
<http://drivers.lexmark.com/drivers.nsf/printer+driver/F18EB01AC454976585256952006E93AA?OpenDocument&4019>
now for configureing cups go to www.cups.org not to linuxprinting.org
if you have any further questions dont hesitate to drop me an email
good luck
