Hi, everyone. I'm extremely sorry I was unable to make the meeting
yesterday. I am part of the 4-member committee coordinating this whole
effort in response to the proposed dissolution of our Superintendency,
and I was in working on the press release until very late, and it had to
go out today.
Just to let everyone know the very latest:
1) The Parents' Association held a meeting for the whole staff at the
Superintendent's Office today, and many people from our office will be
helping to get the rally and other actions together as we continue this
process. RIchard Organisciak has made a major investment in this
movement by agreeing to speak at the rally. He also took on the entire
DOE when he posted the rally announcement on our website. The folks at
Tweed called up and wanted the announcement taken down, and Richard said,
"No." We think that's pretty cool.
2) We expect over 1000 people at the rally, and we need facilitators and
notetakers for breakout sessions. If you'd like to help, email me
([email protected]). Thanks!
3) There will be an OPEN MEETING WITH THE CHANCELLOR this MONDAY at
Lehmann College. If you want to speak, you have to get there before 5:30
to sign up. We want Alternative Ed to be there in force, but people from
any district may come.
4) Please email the Chancellor and the Mayor and any other Educational
leaders who are part of Klein or Bloomberg's cabinet. We need to KEEP
THE PRESSURE ON.
5) We need to remember these common goals: to have progressive and
alternative education available for the neediest children, to have our
methodology respected and supported, and to have our schools available to
ALL the children of this City, regardless of where they live.
See you all, we hope, on Saturday!
Best,
Camilla
