Sid,
It sounds like you had a very excellent parents meeting. I remember two of 
the catchy slogans: We measure kids by a different yardstick (accompanied by 
a large yardstick - which should have images of portfolios, etc. on it)  & We 
measure student progress one student at a time. We should think up some more 
and send these slogans around asap! See you at the steering committee meeting
