Dear friends,
Two things: •The steering committee met last night and drew up plans for the
March 18 meetings of Regions 9 and 10. (There are other regional meetings
that we want to provide support for. We will let you know, as soon as
information and materials come to us.) An informational letter will go out
on the listserv under the subject "Urgent Plans" later this morning.
•We've changed the date of our demonstration at the Tweed Courthouse from
March 25 to March 26. (March 25 is the date for union lobbying against the
budget cuts in Albany. We do not want to conflict in any way with that
campaign.)
OUR MASS DEMONSTRATION IS WEDNESDAY, MARCH 26 AT 4:30 AT THE TWEED
COURTHOUSE. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR SCHOOL IS MOBILIZING. WE WANT LARGE
AMOUNTS OF PEOPLE TO ATTEND. WHAT DO WE WANT? 1-OFFICIAL RECOGNITION OF ALL
OF OUR SMALL SCHOOLS AS SCHOOLS IN THEIR CURRENT FORMS, 2-WAIVERS SO WE CAN
CONTINUE TO DEVELOP CURRICULUM THAT SURPASSES THE MANDATED CURRICULA, AND
3-TO BE PLACED IN NETWORKS OF LIKE-MINDED SCHOOLS WITH INSTRUCTIONAL
SUPERINTENDENTS WHO WILL SUPPORT OUR WORK IN WORD AND DEED.
Thank you to everyone for your active support. Sincerely, Bruce Kanze
