Light Blue steals one from Pinstripes

Written by Dennis on 03-31-2003

Raul's Tiny Hit has Biggest Impact. Light Blue gets four runs in last two at bats.

A dramatic comeback signalled the openning of the 2003 landmark HS Softball league. A banged up Yralee Mendez was only too glad to pocket this win. "Hey we never quit, that was the key." Raul scored the tying run and David Mojica knocked in Sandra Martinez for the game winner. Pinstripes had a chance in the bottom of the seventh to tie it or take back the victory but the bats just did not come through this time, "It happens," said Captain Cecilio, "But when you think of it, we played awful and still almost won, that is a positive we will take from this game."

Notables, Raul, David Mojica and Jesse Rodriguez are all battting .1000, going three for three. Wilky leads the league in RBI's with 3. "That's what I am paid for, " said the slugger.

Red team will receive their uniforms today at 12:40 in Dennis' room (619)

Black team will get theirs at 2:45 in Dennis' room.

Tuesdays game is ON, so dress warmly as temperatures will only be in the mid 40's, but it will be clear in the afternoon, and even warming up slightly as the day goes on.

Thursdays game between Dark Blue and Pinstrips will have beautiful 57 degree weather, mostly sunny, perfect for a ballgame, ... as the Pinstripes attempt to avenge their openning day loss.
