MOUSE Meeting at Landmark High School

Written by Richard Stohlman on 10-02-2003

Landmark will be developing a MOUSE squad to provide technical support for our schools network. Students will be getting offsite training on the weekend of October 18th and 19th and attendance for both Saturday and Sunday is a requirement of becoming a member of the MOUSE squad. We are looking for 6 to 8 people and most likely will be working during elective and when time is available during lunch and after school. There will be a meeting in Richards room (Rm 719) Wednesday October 8 from 12:30 to 12:50 for all those who might be interested (that gives you time to get lunch and come back). If you have even the slightest interest, you should show up for the meeting and we will take it from there. We want a mix of Junior and Senior Institute students and no previous tech experience is necessary.

MOUSE Squad Overview

MOUSE Squad, now beginning its fourth year of operation, prepares and supports teams of teachers and students in establishing and sustaining technical support help desks in their schools. MOUSE Squads improve a schools capacity to integrate technology into teaching and learning by providing much needed onsite technical support while, simultaneously creating a powerful, hands-on 21st century learning experience for students. The core elements of the program include student and teacher computer repair, database and help desk operations training, a comprehensive standards based curriculum, the MOUSE Squad Ticket Tracking System and information and communication technology (ICT) career pathway development programs for participants. MOUSE Squad expanded from 13 to 32 middle and high schools in 2002 alone. For more information, go to MOUSE.
