Lady Legends Finish Season

End up with a 9-2 record in their last 11 games.
What began as a very difficult season for the Lady Legends ended up on a very positive finish, with wins over Environmental Studies and Seward Park High Schools on wednesday and thursday this week.
Against Environmental Studies the Legends won in Overtime 34-36, as Helen DeLuna sank a game winning 15 foot jump shot with 23 seconds left in the overtime. The legends reached the overtime when Onitria Simmons went to the free throw line with 6 seconds remaining and sank one of two shots to tie the score. The legends were down by as many as 7 points early in the 4th quarter but they pressed and successfully overcame the deficit. Notables for landmark were Nydeba's career high 15 points and also 22 rebounds, a monster effort. Helen added 20 rebounds and 8 points. point guard Jill Jeter had 9 steals and six assists. Onitria had 8 rebounds, 7 points and four assists, and Arienny added five rebounds and Jennifer 3 points.
Against Seward Park the Legends were trailing 9-2 early, but stormed back to finish 31-13 victors, outscoring Seward Park 29-4 for the rest of the game. The defense was intense, as major contributions were made by seniors Latisha Cintron and Aidee Acosta, and Sophmore Lynelle Mateo, simply shutting down any attempts to score by the opponents.
Notable boxscores were Captain Jill Jeter in her last game, 10 points, five assists and eight steals, Helen DeLuna with 15 rebounds and 10 points, Senior Jennifer Esco with 5 points, two assists, three boards and two steals, and active Arienny with five boards and four steals.
At the games end the team huddled and bid farwell as warriors and team mates to their four seniors. A few tears were shed, as they finishisd the game on the floor battling their opponents, as well as father time til the end. ---They will be sorely missed!!!
