Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and Other Infant Death

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is the "sudden death of an infant under one year of age which remains unexplained after a thorough case investigation, including performance of a complete autopsy, examination of the death scene, and review of the clinical history" (Willinger, et al., 1991).

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Network:
This site is the growing collaborative effort of individuals from across the United States and around the world. This sites offers up-to-date information as well as support for those who have been touched by the tragedy of SIDS/OID. http://sids-network.org/

The rate of SIDS has dropped significantly:
Prior to 1993, sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) took the lives of 5,000 to 6,000 babies each year. In 1995, however, the number of deaths dropped to approximately 3,500, according to preliminary data from the National Center for Health Statistics.

Although the cause of SIDS is still unknown, the prime risk factor is sleeping on the stomach. The reduction in SIDS is thought to be due in large part to a recommendation in 1992 by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) that infants sleep on their backs or sides rather than their stomachs.

Find out about the different ailments and diseases that can be caused by the consumption of dairy products. e.g. "Asthma, Crohn's Disease, Early Sexual Maturation, Diabetes, Breast Cancer, Colon Cancer, Diarrhea & Constipation, A.D.D."

The most abundant milk protein, casein.
"CASEIN is a tenacious glue. Eighty-seven percent of milk is water. Four percent of the remaining thirteen percent is CASEIN. The furniture in your home is held together by this powerful glue. So too is the label affixed to a bottle of beer. If you are a beer drinker, try scraping that label off this weekend. That will be no easy task and quite a learning experience!"

The Dairy Education Board is a public information association that has been formed to let America know that cow's milk is not nature's perfect food for people. http://www.notmilk.com/

The Dairy Cow
"Cow's milk is the liquid secreted by the mammary glands of cows for the nourishment of their offspring (calves). To produce milk the female of the species is obliged to become pregnant and give birth. From an early age cows are cruelly manipulated and exploited to provide human beings with a product that is neither natural nor necessary." http://www.vegansociety.com/info/info25.html

And that's why there's CHADD the national non-profit organization representing children and adults with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (AD/HD). Founded in 1987 by a group of concerned parents, CHADD works to improve the lives of people with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder through education, advocacy and support. Working closely with leaders in the field of AD/HD research, diagnosis and treatment, CHADD offers its members and the public information they can trust." http://www.chadd.org/

ADHD and Children's Environment
"Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) affects somewhere between 10% and 15% of all school children in the U.S. (1.8 million to 2.7 million children). The estimate is uncertain because the behavior of children can be erratic under the best of circumstances and therefore the disorder is not simple to diagnose. Indeed, many cases are thought to go undiagnosed." http://www.garynull.com/Documents/erf/ADHD%20and%20Children's%20Environment.htm
