Urban Peace Academy (UPA) was created in 1993 and is located in East Harlem. Our school has 350 students that communicate and work

closely with their teachers in our tightly knit community. In our curriculum we address the issues of peace and justice, wealth and power,

racism, and the creation of our cultures and ourselves as individuals. Our goal is to develop the ability to use our minds well in order to

create a community that, through its ideas and actions, makes the world a better place.
