When do we first discover our differences...our diversity and what changes take place? What are the effects of family ...neighborhood ...society? What can our schools do?

SHOW #2 : AIRED MARCH 1st

'THE SPIRIT IN THE MUSIC'

The award winning Public School Repertory Company(PSRC) GOSPEL CHOIR directed by Daryl Ware hosted and entertained us for the entire show. The discussions centered on music... the inspiration and the passion. These PSRC HS students personally feel that their music has helped them in maturing as people while giving meaning to their academic pursuits. The highlight of the year was a 30-day performance tour of Italy including performing at THE VATICAN at the annual CHRISTMAS SHOW sponsored by the POPE.


SHOW #3 : AIRED MAY 3rd

'AIDS IN SOUTH AFRICA'

The student-reporters for this show are Jamal, Genelle, Chris, Marc Anthony, Ray, Jacob, Robert, Saul and Jennifer. The collaborating teacher is Derek Phillips who teaches Global and African History.

Why is it that we are standing by...media, U.S.Government and the American people...while AIDS is destroying millions of lives in AFRICA ? Why Is NKOSI being allowed to die ? Why are the DRUG MANUFACTURERS resistant to providing cheap medication in order to save lives ?

Our guests are DANNY SCHECHTER from GLOBAL VISION/www.mediachannel.org/ , Doctor VOYER, an activist in the care of orphans in South Africa (ACRES OF LOVE) and MARK MILANO from ACTUPNY, a longtime AIDS activist that with ACT UP, that has most recently,through protests and public education, forced the drug companies to reconsider their pricing policies. Gimar, a student recently arrived from West Africa, also added her experiences to help us explore our topic
