I agree with you 100%.  It is always problematic when someone starts using 
money to lure people away from the work that needs to be voluntary.  The parent 
coordinator position will undoubtedly cause conflict within parent bodies.  
It's also become a major expense for a system that is trying to cut its budget.  
I don't think they're going to maintain it; as you pointed out, they might 
whittle away at it, so that it becomes a parent coordinator per school cluster.  
I think we need to insist on other ways for schools to protect parent access 
and to encourage full parent participation.  Bruce Kanze
