We used to ask a willing parent or a student (but we were a high school) to 
do security for our events. It just required sitting at the front desk and 
directing people to the workshop or meeting. I'm not sure if you are an 
elementary school? If there are no parents available or willing you could 
reach out into the community and ask a supporter if they would help the 
school out. You are right to feel pissed off regarding the lack of funding. 
The other possibility is any grant money that you might have that could cover 
the costs of security. We had an after school program where we could use 
funds for security as long as it was connected to after school, which it 
obviously was. Carol
